So what do you say when your kids ask for something impossible, or even just too expensive??

Assalamualaikum
Hi everyone.

How do you tell your kids there’s just not enough money for all the things he want?

I've done so much reading on the 'good' methods of getting him to understand, but they all have failed miserably despite a few times worth of trying.

Is bringing my son to toy store a bad idea? My toddler was screaming & crying at Target and wouldn't leave?

We thought It might be a good idea to bring my 1.6 yr old boy to Target/Walmart, and let him play a little bit there. So we get to know what kind of toy he likes, and I don't have to spend so much money buying every toy.

We tried this for about 4 times, and it's becoming a HUGE NIGHTMARE..

I noticed my toddler wanted to get off the shopping cart whenever we walked by the toy isles. Once I let him down, he didn't want to leave, even after playing there for half 1 hour.
The other day we spent about 1 hour playing at target toy area, and I told him patiently that we need to put the toy back and we need to leave. I picked him up, and he wouldn't let go of the toy, he started screaming, crying, kicking me, knocking me using his head. It was hurting me so much that I couldn't hold him anymore, then he started lying on the floor, still screaming & crying. A lot of people in store were staring at us, and it was a total embarrassment. I hate people who gave me judgmental look - can't they tell I'm a mom struggling there?

I was thinking maybe I should buy the toy since he liked it so much, but I was worried that I shouldn't let him have his way so easily.

i know i could call on not buying him the toy - tough but right. If he realizes that acting that way will get him what he wants, he'll keep doing it, but it was so hard for me to look into his face and say "lets go home and not to buy this toys"

We left the store buying this motorcycle.

i want this behavior to stop now, cant help myself to feels so good to see him happy with his new toys, but i don't want this to be a habit.

Maybe we should stop bringing him to the toy store.

Any advice? Thanks!
